American record label, for unofficial releases with its logos please use [l=Sounds Of The South]. After relocating to Atlanta in early autumn 1972, Sounds of the South was originally conceived by producer / musician / A+R man [a255185] while seeing [a261760] at Funochio's House of Rock. In early 1973, [l641864] was launched to oversee [a2387930]'s debut recording. The world's first southern rock imprint was officially created in September 1973 as a joint label and production agreement with [l878], with many of its recordings engineered at [l338190], a local facility Kooper later co-owned with producer [a361106]. By 1974, the label ceased operations, with subsequent reissues released under the MCA brand, and owned today by [l38404].
