Chopstick Dubplate

Profile

Founded in 1998 by [a166391], Chopstick kickstarted the ragga-jungle revival with a new formula: voicing foundation Jamaican vocalists on jungle versions of classic reggae riddims instead of sampling. The original 10" CHOPs were all mixed, mastered and cut by Jacky on his Scully-Westrex lathe in Brooklyn NYC, and pressed by Channel 1's Joyce and Jojo Hookim at their Brooklyn pressing plant Hitbound. Chopstick has worked with scores of Jamaican and UK artists to record several hundred ragga-jungle dubplates and releases, and created the blueprint followed by the entire modern jungle community. Several well-known artists including Liondub (Liondub International), [a98027] (Born On Road), [a9534] (Man Made Mastering), and Rcola (JungleX) worked with Chopstick Dubplate before moving on to create their own successful endeavors. Jacky has been called 'The Rodigan of Jungle', for his deep dub crate and long history of collaboration with Jamaican artists. The Award-winning Chopstick Dubplate is currently headquartered in London UK.
