An American music contest where contestants competed for cash prizes and record deals. It was orchestrated nationally, first by [url=http://www.discogs.com/label/Showdown+Records+(2)]Showdown Records[/url] and later by [l=Starstream Record Co.], in conjunction with corporate sponsors, hence 'Budweiser', and local radio stations throughout the US and mainly organized from 1983 to 1989. Name variations: "Budweiser Showdown Tournament Of Jams!"
