Fanfare (2)

Profile

Fanfare or Fanfare Records was a Danish niche label in use from 1987 to 1993, owned by [l=Polygram Records A/S (2)], the Danish division of Polygram. History The Fanfare label was established in October 1987 in Hammel, Jutland by Polygram A&R manager [a=Jens Ove Friis] as a home for a more traditional and "middle of the road" pop style in the Danish language than released on the major Polygram labels at the time. It was also used for budget reissues. When some of the Fanfare artists grew in popularity, Polygram chose to use the major label platforms for these artists, and in 1993 the label was discontinued. Logo The logo appears in two distinctive versions: 1987-1991: "FANFARE" logo text on a background of musical notes and FAN prefix in catalog numbers. Also appears without the "FANFARE" text. 1991-1993: "Fanfare Records" logo text and Polygram catalog numbers (xxx xxx-x). Note: During the transition period, some releases like [r=8939929] even carries both logos. FAN catalog numbers The cat. numbers with FAN prefix follow the pattern FANXX-YYNN where: - XX indicates the physical format: LP, CD, MC (cassette) or SP (7'single) - YY indicates the year of release: 87 = 1987, 88 = 1988, etc. - NN is the forth running release number of the year Note: YY = 86 is an is an exception, see [r=1673648] (FANLP 8600 from 1987). There may be other exceptions but there must be good reasons to state that YY is not the year of release.
