Scala-Record (2)

Profile

British Shellac label which began in 1911 and was initially manufactured in Germany for export to the UK market. In late 1912 Carl Lindström A.-G. built a record factory at Hertford, England and from then on the Scala label was manufactured both in Germany and England. After the outbreak of WWI in September 1914 all Scala records were manufactured in England. The first catalogue series ran from 1 to 1123. A new catalogue series began at 1200 in 1920 which became a 3 digit series after 1359 by dropping the "1" [ie. the next release after 1359 was 360]. When this new catalogue series reached the 500s in 1922 the label became [l=Scala (9)]. Related to the company [l1358896] from London.
