Етнічна Музика України

Profile

In 2002, the Kyiv audio company "Atlantic" together with the All-Ukrainian Society "Prosvita" them. T.G. Shevchenko started a unique project "Ethnic Music of Ukraine". Ideally, this audio series will consist of almost 25 albums, each of which will illustrate the most characteristic features of traditional music in one region or another. In 2004, the re-sale of finished disks was carried out.By the level of culture and aesthetics, these publications - and this obviously - are the best from the whole array of such publications not only in Ukraine, but also in the CIS countries. Each collection is the result of professional selection, because here really collected the most vivid examples of folk art with all the "raisins" of local color. "In the archives of our company," says Yuri Handzyuk, Director of the Atlantic Recording Company. "The materials of expeditions from the former Galicia-Volhynian lands and Boykivshchyna, Hutsulshchyna, Lemkivshchyna, Natssyany, Opillya, Polissya, Transcarpathia, Bukovina, Beresteyshchyna, Podillya and others are stored. The regions of Kyiv Region, Poltava, Eastern and Western Polissya, Slobozhanshchyna, Crimea are quite fully represented. Our phonographic archive covers all the variety of genres of traditional music: carols, shchedrivki, hayivka, freckles, Rusal and Kupala songs, wedding and harem, burial mourning, lullabies, ballads, dumas, lyrical songs, a lot of instrumental music, etc. " It is interesting that many original works were recorded about a hundred years ago on phonographic rollers (the so-called Edison rollers), the other part - on magnetic films. The uniqueness of the records is that, for example, the Poltava kobza-players, which in the 30's physically destroyed the Soviet power, were recorded on the rollers. Now those rollers are the only source of authentic style, their careful restoration is the only way to save a significant part of the priceless treasure. The disappearance of the entire layers of folk music culture - a process unfortunately inevitable, because the alive carriers go away into eternity - rural grandparents, grandmothers, and, on the other hand, is the offensive of non-spiritual urbanization-globalization. Therefore, in fact, there was the idea of creating a comprehensive encyclopedia of folk music culture.
