P. Alonzo Conway

Patrick Alonzo Conway is a percussionist, wind player and composer. He has studied with noted master drummers from around the world and has traveled to Cuba and Bali to study. Pat holds a Masters in Music Composition from the UMKC Conservatory, was a founding member of newEar and works with Terrestrial Consort, Peoples Liberation Big Band of Greater KC, Mambo DeLeon Orquesta/Carte Blanc, [a=Chris Hazelton's Boogaloo 7], [a=Expassionates], Arnold Young's RoughTet and [a=BCR]. He currently is director of the community Balinese gamelan orchestra [a=Gamelan Genta Kasturi], who premiered a large scale collaborative work featuring his original compositions entitled Angels & Demons at Play through Urban Culture Project and ArtSounds. Gamelan Genta Kasturi was awarded Studio Space through the Charlotte Street/Urban Culture Project Studio Residency Program from 2011-16 and currently resides in Laura Isaac's Arts Dojo. Mr. Conway is also a recipient of the Charlotte Street Foundation Generative Performing Artist Fellow Award for 2012.
