Richard Brooks (5)

Richard was born on the 13th of May 1940 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, died November 12, 2023 and was the eleventh child of John Wesley and Mattie Stephens Brooks. While attending The Howard High School he formed a vocal group known as the Pleasures with Richard wooing his audiences as a juvenile Elvis impersonator. Later Richard joined his older brother Arthur’s group ‘The Four Roosters And A Chick’ their line up being [a526903], [a583275], [a879958], Emanuel Thompson and his sister Catherine Thompson. Both Brooks Brothers came to the same conclusion that they stood a greater chance of success if they moved north to Chicago but the only member of the group to accompany them was Sam Gooden, with the rest of the group choosing to remain in Chattanooga. Brother from [a=Arthur Brooks] and [a=Harrison Brooks]. Richard was a founding member of the "Impressions" formed in 1958. He was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1991, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003, and earned the Rhythm and Blues Foundation Pioneer Award in 2000. Richard was an avid lover of music and a great songwriter. His biggest hit was “For Your Precious Love”.
