Altered Images

Post-punk group formed in Glasgow, 1979. Originally comprising Clare Grogan (vocals), Tony McDaid (guitar), John McElhone (bass), Gerard "Caesar" McInulty (guitar) and Michael "Tich" Anderson (drums). McInulty left in 1981 to form [a=The Wake] with Jim McKinven (guitar/keyboards) replacing him. They soon adopted synthpop stylings under the influence of producers including Martin Rushent and Mike Chapman. The group split in 1983 (Anderson and McKinven had already left the previous year). Clare (who had already appeared in the hit film "Gregory's Girl" in 1980) was also an actress appearing under the name CP Grogan. In December 2021, [a388950] announced that the first Altered Images album in over 38 years would be released in 2022, titled [r=24368084]. [a388950] and [a102018] recorded the album with Bobby Bluebell from the Bluebells and [a102977], formerly of Suede and McAlmont & Butler, and it will have tracks co-written with Texas member [a396847] (who was the band's original bass player). Mascara Streakz was released on 26 August 2022 and reached the UK Top 30.
