Pitura Freska

Italian ska/reggae band from Venice, formed by "Sir" Oliver Skardy (Gaetano Scardicchio, the group's leader), Francesco Duse, Cristiano Verardo, Marco Forieri, and Valerio Silvestri The group has been in activity from 1978 to 2002, releasing 10 albums and some singles. A particularity of them was that they used to sing in Italian Venetian dialect. Their greatest hit was "Papa Nero" ("Black Pope") that they played also in Sanremo Festival.. Pitura Freska is a slang from Pittura Fresca, which means "wet paint".
