Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band

Disco band formed in New York's the Bronx in 1974 by [a346522] and who became one of the most original musical ensembles of the disco era. The concept of the group was the re-creation of a '30s jazz-swing band, à la [a253474], with witty lyrics, a disco beat and lush disco arrangements and orchestrations. They had a big dancefloor hit with Cherchez La Femme. After their third album, in 1979, [a1270593] and [a73414] left & went off to form the '80s dance-band [a32620]. One final Savannah Band album followed in 1984. "Had it not been for my brother, Stony, I would have remained a school teacher. He made fun of my job to such an extent that eventually I decided to join his group, Dr Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band, as the bass player." [a55005] in 2021.
