Ludox

Danish Britpop-inspired electronic rock band, active 1992-98. Formed in Thisted in 1992 under the name Frantic by five high school friends, vocalist/keyboardist [a=Jeppe Laursen], guitarist/violinist/keyboardist [a=Filip Nikolic], guitarist Nis Søgaard, drummer [a=Vitus Bagge Nielsen], and bassist [a=Mads Bechgaard]. Søgaard was replaced by guitarist Morten Malle Kristensen in spring 1994, and with this lineup the band won the 1994 edition of "DM i Rock" under the name Ludo. Shortly hereafter the band changed their name to Ludo X and a promotional single [r=2208418] was released in August 1994. In spring 1995 Kristensen was replaced by guitarist/keyboardist [a=Jesper Mortensen], and in June same year the band relocated to Copenhagen. Self-produced debut album [m=317423] was released in October 1995, now as Ludox. Mortensen left the band in April 1996 and, reduced to a quartet, the band continued until 1998 when they split up. Same year Jeppe Laursen and Jesper Mortensen got back together and formed [a=Junior Senior]. The debut album was re-released in 2003 under the title [m=705407].
