Laércio Villar

Brazilian veteran jazz drummer. Few drummers are recognized and remembered as "master". In the village of Pessegueiros in the small town of Moeda (MG), 60 km from Belo Horizonte, the musician Laércio Vilar lives simply. Born in Belo Horizonte, he is one of the first jazz drummers in Minas Gerais. Today with more than 70 years of life and 50 years of a career full of resistance, Laércio is one of the oldest drummers still active in the state and in national jazz, being one of the local precursors of free jazz. In this half century of career, Laércio has played with great musicians, such as Toninho Horta and Chico Amaral.
