A-Tek

DJ A-Tek was born in Ankara, Turkey, but from the age of 6 grew up in Germany. As early as 78 he fell in love with psychedelic inspired music, from groups such as Devo, SPK, Front 242, Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus and similar. In 82 he slid into nightlife as a job, starting behind the bar in a youth disco through all kinds of disco related jobs until, in 94, when he first stood behind a pair of Technics Decks as DJ. In 95 he opened his own record shop and mailorder business: Trance Medusa Records in Hagen, part of Germany's Ruhr Valley. In 96 he released his first Maxi (A-Tek/ All Massive) with the italian producer Carmello Masi and at the end of 96 founded his own label: Trance Medusa Productions which has gone on to produce 7 CDs to date. Together with Chris Cool he formed the Prophets of Psycho project and founded another label: Cult Records. He has been a DJ at most of his own parties, as well as at various parties all over Germany. In 97 he appeared on the radio, Radio Hagen and on Evosonic's Paradise fm. A-Tek mixes vinyl and CDs in a variety of trance styles, both dancefloor and ambient. Currently A-Tek is planning to release the first Prophets of Psycho album: Electric Sahara and a maxi CD: Moon Madness. A-Tek regularly organises trance parties under the titles Mandala, Eclipse, Voodoo Cult and Summer Breeze. His Psychomeister Parties at Cult in Arnsberg/Neheim once a month are also an introductory opportunity for unknown DJs to make their debut.
