Hélène Schmitt

French classical violinist. She began her violin studies at the Conservatory in Metz, finishing at the Paris Conservatory with a degree in violin and chamber music. She learned with [a=Chiara Banchini] the Baroque violin and historical performance practice, first in Geneva and then she followed Chiara Banchini at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland. Schmitt first started out as a chamber musician before specialising in baroque music. She spent 10 years in Bâle, next to [a=Chiara Banchini] and [a=Jesper Bøje Christensen]. Nowadays, she is very close to [a=Jörg Andreas Bötticher] and [a=Rolf Lislevand] with whom she often plays in concert. She is a professor of baroque violin in Boulogne-Billancourt.
