The Schoolboys (2)

Jamaican ska vocal duo. The Schoolboys may have played truant from class to take part in [a=Justin Yap]'s 1963 session at Federal Studios. The Duo of [a=Winston "Pipe" Matthews] and Colin Johnson had already recorded for [a=Prince Buster] by then, and went on to cut sides for [a=Clement "Coxsone" Dodd] before Colin's dad ended their career as a duo. Undeterred, Matthews went on to form The [a=Wailing Souls]. Whatever happened to Colin is not known. Similarly it is not confirmed that [a=The College Boys (4)] who also recorded for Buster may be the same group. [a=Prince Buster] recorded a group called [a=The Schoolgirls] about the same time (1964), bit it isn't clear if there was any connection between the two groups. Do not confuse with [a=the schoolboys (5)], a reggae group that featured a young [a=jacob miller].
