Ernestine Deane
Born in 1974, raised in Grassy Park in the Cape Flats and now based in Muizenberg, young "Ernie" cut her teeth in the South African music business as vocalist for hip hop crew [b]Black Noise[/b] at the age of 15. Sometimes known as "Lady E", she achieved even greater fame and fortune as vocalist and songwriter for [a=Moodphase5ive], having also worked with the likes of poet Breyten Breytenbach, Warrick Sony, and diva Cesaria Evaro. Married to [a=Brian de Goede] (with whom she runs independent record label [b]Konshus Pilot[/b]) and while pregnant with their first child, Ms. Deane also starred in a biography/documentary about the Cape's "Bruinmense", entitled "Brown", to some critical acclaim. Her debut solo album, "Dub For Mama", was released in October 2006.
