Pedro Biker

Danish jazz drummer, vocalist and radio and TV presenter, 1925-1973. Born in Lisbon, Portugal, but migrated with his family to Gentofte, Denmark as a child. Debut drumming with Peter Schiølers Amatørsekstet in 1942. With [a=Svend Asmussen] Orchestra 1942-1943. In 1943 also with the orchestra of [a=Bent Fabricius-Bjerre]. Good looks and a smooth crooner made him vocalist with [a=Ib Glindemann And His Orchestra]. The orchestra was house band at the illegal, commercial "pirate-radio" Radio Mercur, where Biker also worked as radio presenter. In the early 60's he became the leading TV-presenter on Danish national television and then only performed and recorded occasionally, like the 1963 cool jazz album "Evergreens In Danish Design". In 1970 he made a Danish version of "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" a national hit but the year after he retired from music. Father of [a=Peter Biker]
