Pennsylvania Music Educators Association

Based in Hamburg, Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, aka PMEA, has been the state-level affiliate of the National Association for Music Education since 1933. PMEA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting musical development across the state, especially through music education. PMEA specializes in providing competitive venues for performances and in adjudicating middle and high school bands. It is the second-largest state music educators association in the US. Events take place on county, district, regional, and statewide levels, within different types of concert band, orchestra, chorus and jazz ensembles. PMEA has two objectives: 1) "Promote and support quality music education, learning and performance," and 2) "Promote and support music education in schools and communities."
