Wiley Reed

Wiley Reed (January 5th, 1944 - October 7th, 2012) Award winning American born blues musician who was based in Australia. Reed was born in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. He began signing in his local church choir at the age of 9. By the age of 15 he was studying piano. He came to Australia In 1967 after touring Vietnam, entertaining troops. This was his first time coming to Australia..While in Australia he met a lady who was to become his wife. His album [i]Straight from the Heart[/i] which was released in 2003 gained him three awards.He was a regular act in Queensland venues and played at Blues on Broadbeach. During his career he played in many styles which included blues, jazz, rock, soul and country. He died at the age of 68 from complications as a result of a fall. He was survived by his wife and three daughters.
