Prominent Greek trichord bouzouki virtuoso, nicknamed by [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/939408-%CE%93%CF%81%CE%B7%CE%B3%CF%8C%CF%81%CE%B7%CF%82-%CE%9C%CF%80%CE%B9%CE%B8%CE%B9%CE%BA%CF%8E%CF%84%CF%83%CE%B7%CF%82]Gregoris Bithikotsis[/url] "Paganini of bouzouki", and teacher of trichord bouzouki. Born in 1937 in Kokkinia, Piraeus, Greece. His recording career started in 1955. He became widely renown as the "right" (i.e. right-handed) bouzouki of [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/1534808-Mikis-Theodorakis-And-His-Orchestra]Mikis Theodorakis' orchestra[/url], of which he was a permanent member since 1961 (except during the junta period, 1967-1974). Long time partner of bouzouki virtuoso [a=Lakis Karnezis] (the "left" bouzouki in the orchestra). Their partnership begun in his late teens; their last performance together took place in September 1995 at [l=Herod Atticus Odeon]. Father of [a1012827].
