Terry tha Rapman
Nigerian hip-hop MC, born January 28th, 1976 in Lafia, Nasarawa State in Nigeria, performing with lyrics in English. Born in Lafia, as a native of the Tiv tribe, Terry's origins lie in the Benue State. He started rapping in 1991 influnced by the likes of Rakim, LL Cool J and Big Daddy Kane, it was in Kaduna where he first started making a name for himself on the radio. His original name as a rapper was 'Terrific' before he opted for the alias Terry tha Rapman. In 1995 he joined a rap group called the Crock City Click. The group independently released a cassette tape that featured songs "Fashi" and "Tha Illest" which garnered national attention and eventually caught the attention of [a=Solo Dee], the CEO of [l=Payback Tyme Records]. Due to the religious crisis in the region, Crock City Click split up, and Terry relocated to Jos, Plateau State with his family. After signing with Solo Dee, Terry launched a successful solo career in 2001 which has seen him release numerous albums, singles and mixtapes, having worked with various rappers, singers and songwriters from Nigeria, including Modenine, Skales, Pherowshuz, Bella Alubo, 2baba, Jhybo and many more.
