Dan Mîndrilă

Dan Mândrilă (b. 1938, Chisinau - d. December 31, 1992) was a saxophonist, clarinetist, bandleader and romanian composer of jazz and light music. He is considered one of the best romanian saxophonists of all time. A graduate of the "Ciprian Porumbescu" Conservatory in Bucharest, Mândrilă joined the Electrecord Orchestra in 1963. With this orchestra he toured in the GDR, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Poland, etc. He participated in festivals in Ploiesti, Sibiu, Prague, San Sebastian, etc. In 1970 he was elected a member of the East European All Stars Big Band.
