Pierre Bartholomée
born: 5 August 1937 (Brussels); Conductor, composer, pianist. Bartholomée started to study piano at the age of six. With André Dumortier as piano teacher, he became a laureate at the Brussels Conservatory, where he achieved numerous prices. In Italy he followed master classes from [a=Wilhelm Kempff], dedicated to Beethoven's work. Together with [a=Henri Pousseur], he founded [a=Musiques Nouvelles] en the Centre de Recherche de Création musicales de Wallonie (Research Centre of Musical Creation of Wallonia) He started his career as pianist, playing recitals, with orchestra & chamber music, in Belgium, France, Germany, Swiss and Spain. After that, he lead the ensemble [a=Musiques Nouvelles] in Belgium's most important cities, but also in many European festivals (Avignon, Paris, Amsterdam, Warsaw, Madrid, Belgrado, Zagreb), for numerous radio stations (BBC, Radio France, Radio Suisse Romande, WDR, the Danish radio,...) and a few television stations, where he also appeared as a producer for the musicservice of the Belgian television (RTBF). After that, Pierre Bartholomée devoted 30 years of his career to conducting. He conducted different Belgian, Dutch, French, Italian, Swiss, Austrian, German, Norwegian, Fin, Spanish and American ensembles. Twenty-two seasons, he was conductor of the [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Orchestre+De+Li%C3%A8ge]Orchestre Philharmonique De Liège[/url]. He's list of compositions contain an opera, six works for grand orchestra, chamber music, vocal music, instrumental works and electronic creations. All his works were performed.
