Born into a musical family, her Dad was a music minister, and her mother was a pianist. She grew up singing in the the church, and was greatly influenced by black gospel, southern gospel and inspirational gospel music. At an early age, she studied classical piano, and at age 16, discovered her gift for songwriting, when she wrote her first song, entitled, "Except for The Grace of God". Worked in Nashville for the Christian market in late 1980s and in California in the 1990s, now based in Pensacola, Florida. Some of her original gospel songs include: He'll Do It Again, recorded by Shirley Caesar and others I Am Not Ashamed, by The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and Janet Paschal In It After All, by Larnelle Harris I'll Give You Peace, by Sandy Patti Hallelujah Praise The Lamb, by The Talleys Growing up, various musical styles and musicians influenced her writing and taste. Some of those musicians include: James Taylor, Andre Crouch, Michael McDonald, Sade, Toto, Guy Heath, Maurice White, Quincy Jones, Dr Hook, Kelly Willard, Claude Bolling, The Happy Goodmans. In the early 90's, she recorded an album for Elektra Records, produced by the late and legendary, Tommy Lipuma. As a signed artist, she recorded her original adult/contemporary ballad, If I'm Not In Love, which was included on the movie soundtrack, Indecent Proposal. The movie was released in the early to mid 90s and starred Robert Redford and Demi Moore. While the song was re-produced for Elektra Records , the recording selected for the movie soundtrack was Constant's original demo recording, which cost under $500 dollars to make, and was produced by herself and Scott Sheriff. For me, the name represents juxtaposed feelings I have wrestled with at times in my life, and my learning to find inner strength and those core values that keep me grounded and steady. After years of struggle to know myself, I have embraced the decision to change my name, along with the journey that led me to do it. Out of my own faith, I have come to believe that God, through Jesus Christ and the precious Holy Spirit, is ever present and constant in His leading, through days of change and uncertainty. While I write and record as Constant Change, I prefer to be called, "Dawn". Dawn now writes, produces and records on her own label, A Timeless Company, Inc. from her studio in Pensacola, FL. She has also developed a serious passion for tennis, has taken to poetry and jingle writing.
