John Jacobsson

Swedish music dealer and composer, born August 2, 1835 in Stockholm, died there June 4, 1909. He studied for Ludvig Norman, Gustaf Mankell and Franz Berwald. He was employed in Edvard Josephson's music store and loan library from 1849 and took over the business in 1861 and the associated piano business and ran these until 1876. He received the title "court music dealer". Jacobsson was also an organist in the synagogue. He was awarded the Litteris et Artibus in 1866 and was elected on March 27, 1888 as Member No. 477 of the Royal Academy of Music.
