John Mogensen

Danish vocalist, composer (1928-1977), a major contributor to danish schlager repertoire w. his catchy barfly protest songs. First major public appearance in 1952 as member of the vocal quartet [a=Blue Boys], and after that [a=Four Jacks]. Four Jacks disbanded in 1962 as rock music began to change popular music, and Mogensen lived in artistic obscurity for half a decade until his comeback as solo artist in 1970. Making a living as a bar pianist, his "Joe Six-pack" protest songs caught a major audience and paved the way for a very successful come-back that lasted until alcohol addiction ended his life in 1977.
