French horn initially, and tuba player & teacher. Born in 1941 in Leeds, UK - Died October 1987. In 1964, he went to London and went to work for the [a=BBC Symphony Orchestra] as Principal Tuba. He remained with them for two years and left to become a member of the [a=London Symphony Orchestra] as Principal Tuba for twenty years (1968-1987) and the [a=Philip Jones Brass Ensemble], who he remained with until 1986. In 1967, he married the mezzo-soprano [a=Margaret Cable].
