Erik Algård
Swedish music director and conductor, born July 28, 1897 in Stockholm, died August 12, 1968 in Stockholm. He studied at Sunnerdahl's home school and at the Stockholm Conservatory of Music and graduated as a music teacher and organist in 1924 and 1925. In 1920–1930 he was cantor in Gustav Vasa church and in 1930–1960 cantor in Maria Magdalena church. Algård founded [a1728958] in 1938 and was its conductor until his death in 1968. With the boys' choir, he did a number of concert tours, including to Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Yugoslavia, Canada, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain, Great Britain, Czechoslovakia, Germany, USA and Austria.
