Spotch Forcey

French duo of Jean-Marie Boehm (aka Paul Spotch) and Gilles Dumont (aka Ymont Forcey). Active 1979-1989. They started out making tape music at Radio Chateau in the Rue du Château in Paris 14ème, initially with third member Simon Boehm (aka producer Bigornö). In 1980 they start thinking of making a record, which they record in January & February 1981 in an appartment in Paris 13ème, using 2 Révox B77 machines. They self-release it on 500 copies and distribute it themselves "in the wild", even leaving copies on Fnac's shelves without authorization. The track Frustré ends in the top 6 of a talent competition on France Inter hosted by Patrice Blanc-Francard in his Bananas radio show. The EP's title refers to a performance as Spotch-Forcey Team Equipe at the Théatre Accidentel in Antony (Hauts-de-Seine). The band evolves into a performance act with Le Mange Bande in March 1982, and on 21 December 1982 they perform at the Théâtre Firmin Gémier in Antony for a Radio Antenne 94.5 benefit, with [a350115] also on the bill. 1983's Ballet D'écrans included Super 8 film projections by the Spotch Forcey Team Equipe. In 1988 they perform for the last time, on the theme of HP Lovecraft, with Cthulhu and special effects created by university students. In 2020 there is renewed attention when German label Mauerstadtmusik releases a compilation LP.
