Jörg Winkler

German violist, born in East Berlin, GDR/DDR (German Democratic Republic). Jörg Winkler has been the first viola of the [a=Orchestra Del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino] since 2003, and was a founding member of the [a=Mahler Chamber Orchestra]. At the invitation of Claudio Abbado, he collaborated with the [a=Lucerne Festival Orchestra]. Winkler has played as a viola soloist with ensembles such as the [a=Münchner Philharmoniker], the [a=London Philharmonic Orchestra] and the [a=Camerata Academica Salzburg]. He is often invited to play and hold masterclasses in Italy and Europe.
