Love Canon

Charlottesville, Virginia-based bluegrass band playing mostly '80s and '90s pop hits, using bluegrass instrumentation to recreate the authentic grooves of songs originally recorded by The Police, Olivia Newton-John, Journey, Devo, Peter Gabriel, Billy Joel, Depeche Mode, Paul Simon and other pop artists. Many tracks clone the original arrangements, with electric guitars, pianos, and synthesizers replaced by banjo, mandolin, and resonator guitar. Sometimes, though, they insert bluegrass and old-time touches like fiddle-tune interludes or hot solos; and occasionally they’ll rework a song completely. Love Canon was formed in 2006 by Adam Larrabee, Jesse Harper and Zach Hickman with the concept of playing one song per '80s artist, and the goal of reaching 100 songs without repeating an artist. Hence the 'Greatest Hits' album titles. After reaching that goal in 2014, they've expanded to include 1970s to 1990s pop hits, bluegrass standards, fiddle tunes and originals.
