Dead Space Chamber Music

Dead Space Chamber Music are a dark ambient / ritual / gothic / ethereal wave / dark neoclassical trio of cello, guitar and voice, based in Bristol, UK. The band is comprised of Tom Bush (guitar + treatments), Liz Muir (cello) and Ellen Southern (voice, vocal sound-works). Existing in an undefined space where early music meets early industrial, they combine the focused intensity and intimacy of chamber music with an experimental / ritual aesthetic, to create a distinctively emotive, transportive and atmospheric live experience. Their live performances are approached as a sensory ritual. They integrate the spaces they perform in; they have a voice and a physicality which becomes part of the total experience. One work leads into another, forming a multi-layered ceremonial arc of structured improvisations combined with reinterpreted songs reaching back to the 12th century. Pieces move between shimmering veils of fine textured sound, to heavily saturated effect-laden drones, incorporating finely crafted treatments and field-recording based sound-scapes. Integrating an array of performative processes and sound-objects, each show is reworked in varying combinations, to create a different interconnected journey each time.
