Pearl Woods

Singer, producer and songwriter, born 24 September 1933 in St. Matthews, South Carolina. Moved to New York in 1951. She married her songwriting partner [a783151] and turned to religion in 1973 becoming a lay minister and a nurse. She died 19 March 2010 in Arlington, TX. Woods released several R&B singles during the late 1950s/early 1960s. She is also a songwriter, best known for (co-)composing [a=Etta James]' [i]Something's Got A Hold On Me[/i] (1962). Together with her husband she owned [l=Pearltone Records] / [l=Pearl Records (15)].
