Thomas Arnesen

Swedish jazz and blues guitarist, and singer, born May 23, 1952. Educated at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, and Musicology, Uppsala University. He has released four records in his own name, and participated in recordings with e.g. Panta Rei, Anders Widmark, Claes Janson, Kjell Öhman, Egil Johansen, Tomas Ledin, Gösta Linderholm, Cornelis Vreeswijk. Sources of inspiration range from Clapton, Hendrix, Beck, BB King, Peter Green and other blues / rock musicians to Pat Metheny, John McLaughlin, John Schofield and others. which is more classified as jazz / fusion guitarists. After playing the piano at the Municipal Music School for ten years, he started playing the guitar on his own. From the beginning, the blues was the big interest. Through the interaction with other musicians e.g. saxophonist John Högman, jazz became an increasing interest, which eventually led to the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and a pedagogical education for improvisational musicians. The main instrument was then guitar and bi-instrument piano. During the 80's and 90's he played jazz and blues about half / half, to since 2002 mainly concentrate on the quintet Arnesen Blues Band.
