Hanne Boel

Danish funk, R&B and jazz vocalist, b. 31 August 1957 in Copenhagen. Graduated as music teacher from [l348703] (The Royal Danish Academy of Music) in 1980 and studied at The Berkeley School of Music in Boston, MA. From 1981 to 1986 she sang with the funk/rock band [a=Blast (17)]. She also was a popular backing vocalist, touring with a.o. [a=Sanne Salomonsen] and [a=Kasper Winding]. Released first solo album [m=108590] in 1988, the first of several with Boel as a modern interpretor of the 1960's and 1970's southern R&B repertoire. It became an immediate success in Denmark and made her a national star. Since her debut she has released over 10 albums. In 1994 she performed for [a=His Holiness Pope John Paul II] and nearly half a million people in Italy. In 2000 she formed a collaboration with [a=Martin Hall] and released the duo album [m=933617]. In 2011 she release her first jazz album [m=1166346].
