Johnny Ventura Y Su Combo

In 1964, at the behest of Cuban businessman Angel Guinea, Johnny Ventura created his own orchestra, which we know today as an important part of the history of popular Dominican music called El Combo Show. To this orchestra belonged great Dominican talents including Luisito Martí, Fausto Rey, and Anthony Rios. Johnny Ventura innovated with his lyrics and his catchy rhythm accompanied by his band El Combo-Show. It was a different sound for the time but it enjoyed the acceptance of a great fanatic who started to follow him. His "Combo-Show" this name referring to combo as a limited number of people and show by the visual show and the movements they made when they were on stage. Ventura modernized the merengue rhythm introducing saxophones, trumpets, piano, drums, electronic effects, timbales, and incorporating elements of other rhythms but without losing the essence and natural colors of merengue
