[b]Stewie Griffin[/b] is a fictional cartoon character in the adult animation sitcom series [i][a=Family Guy][/i], invented, designed, and voiced by the show's creator, [a=Seth MacFarlane]. The youngest of three kids in the Griffins family, Stewie is a highly precocious, "child prodigy" toddler of around 1–3 years old who talks and functions as an adult. With his gradually unfolding complex personality, Stewie became the show's breakout character and earned a dedicated feature-length spinoff film, [i]Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story[/i], in 2005. In 2003, several critics noted similarities and shared character traits between Stewie Griffin and the main protagonist of [a=Chris Ware]'s mid-1990s graphic novel [i]Jimmy Corrigan, the Smartest Kid on Earth[/i]; Ware shared his frustration, claiming he's been now routinely accused of "ripping off Family Guy" presenting his original artwork. The [l=20th Century Fox], co-producers and owner of [i]Family Guy[/i], vehemently denied plagiarism accusations and insisted that Stewie was an original character. [a=Seth MacFarlane] claimed he'd been unfamiliar with Jimmy Corrigan comics before, and all shocking similarities were incidental, stating he could see why Chris Ware was upset.
