The Douglas Firs (2)

A contemporary acoustic duo from Bournemouth, Dorset. Bringing their music from the woods to the people of the towns, The Douglas Firs are an acoustic duo whose love of nature is reflected in their songwriting. With influences ranging from the classic songwriters of the 60s to contemporary nu-folk artists, their arrangements are uncomplicated with a thought-provoking lyrical style coupled with simple yet strong melodies. The crystal clear and sometimes ethereal vocals from Suzy Douglas and delicate guitar work from Jimmy Douglas help weave the stories in their songs that creates their distinctive sound. Since self-releasing two EPs to critical acclaim, The Firs have been spreading their roots on the live scene, playing to new and growing audiences around the south of England, receiving radioplay, playing festivals and supporting established acts such as Eddi Reader and Lanterns on The Lake. They also won two awards for their live performance at the Dorset Music Awards with their unique and emotive performace impressing audience and judges alike. In 2011, Suzy and Jimmy embarked on a 6 month extended tour and travel experience of Western Canada and North America, playing numerous venues and coffeehouses in Vancouver, Seattle and other cities to much positivie acclaim. The duo returned to UK shores in September to a fresh rosta of London shows and to begin piecing together songs written on their travels, inspired by the people and places met along their travels .
