Quique Bonal

Quique Bonal started playing guitar at the age of 14. He learned originally, pre Internet and YouTube, by ear. When he went to study in Seville, he met Bishop Cochran, an American professor, who taught him to play Blues with some harmony and music theory. At 16, for a short period, he played rock & roll with Descontrol which provided his first stage appearance. Much later, with The Vagos, he returned to the public eye playing 60's psychadelia in Seville. He joined the Caledonia Blues Band and recorded with them on their third, self titled, album. That also led to many festivals and other events in the Blues & Jazz arena including a memorable concert with Charlie Musselwhite. He continued studying with Fran Mazuelos and formed a Bluegrass Trio with Antonio Esperon experimenting with jazz standards and bebop. After spending time in England with some Blues musicians, he returned to Spain and formed The Blues Machine with ex Caledonia harp player, Mingo Balaguer. Bonal is participating in various projects, currently recording as Mingo & The Blues Intruders, playing festivals and representing Spain in the European Blues Challenge 2012.
