Roger Doyle
Roger Doyle (Dublin, Ireland, 1949) is a former jazz/rock drummer and scholarship music student at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (Ireland), The Institute of Sonology (The Netherlands) and Finnish Radio Experimental Music Studio. He is co-founder of the music-theatre company Operating Theatre. He was awarded the Programme Music Prize at the Bourges International Electroacoustic Music Competition (France, 1997). In 1999 Operating Theatre, the music-theatre company he co-founded, produced a multimedia show Angel/Babel, using customised realtime interactive sensor software. Also in 1999, to mark his 50th birthday, Roger Doyle released his magnum opus Babel as a 5-CD set — the result of ten years’ work—celebrating musical language in all its diversity.
