John Meijer (2)

Johnny Jozef (John) Meijer (born 14 August 1958 in Wormerveer) is a Dutch guitarist and singer. Owner of [l=Studio John Meijer] in Wormer. Meijer started his career in the [a=Fat Eddy Band] (1981-1983). He then played in the Volendam band [a=Next One] (1988-2002), a band that worked as an accompaniment orchestra for [a=Anny Schilder] and [a=Jan Smit], among others. He also worked for [a=Drukwerk] in 2002. In February 2003 he started as a guitarist with [a=BZN], because guitarist [a=Dirk van der Horst] had become seriously ill. Van der Horst was previously the guitarist of Next One and his replacement in that band was Meijer at the time. He played in BZN until the end in June 2007. Meijer is also an advertising copywriter and video editor. After the end of BZN, Meijer continued in his own studio. Here he assembles productions for companies and institutions. The videos behind the band members during the 40th anniversary tour and BZN's farewell tour also came from Meijer's studio. In addition to video work, Meijer is involved in making orchestral tapes and other musical pieces, including for beginning artists. He is also still active in music. Together with [a=Dick Plat] and [a=Fred Snel], he formed the trio [a=All The Best]. In addition, he acts as accompanist for [a=Tamara Tol]. In 2007 Meijer was featured on his own stamp. This was presented to him on the occasion of the farewell tour of the 42 year old band, BZN.
