Don McGreevy

Don McGreevy is a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Seattle, Washington, that works in many disciplines of rock and composition. Informed by all traditional and modern musics, Don explores Avant-Garde, Minimalism, American Primitive, Impressionism, and Dadaist Noise. He is a founding member of Genius Award nominees and avant sonic wizards, the Master Musicians of Bukkake. He plays electric bass with Doom/Drone pioneers, Earth, joining in 2005. Don formed the SPOILS in 2001 and the Yada Yada Blues Band in 2007, both with guitarist Milky Burgess. He has worked with Eyvind Kang, Alan Bishop of the Sun City Girls, Wayne Horvitz of Naked City, Trey Spruance of Mr. Bungle, Danny Barnes, Randall Dunn, Evan Schiller, Skerik, Bobby Previte, Wolves in the Throne Room, Greg Anderson, Stephen O’Malley, Timba Harris, and many more. Don has been composing serials for guitar symphonies for up to 30 guitars. The performances of these pieces are known as the Sulphuric Symphony. In 2015, he received a grant from Seattle’s Office of Arts and Culture for the performance of The Temporal Nature of Stability, his premier symphonic work. In 2014, Don self-released Aichmophobia. A meditation on American Primitive guitar styles combined with rich orchestrations and chord structures.
