Neerlands Hoop In Bange Dagen

Growing out of a cabaret group called Cabariolet (which released a record under the name [a=De Paradijsvogels]), Neerlands Hoop In Bange Dagen (often abbreviated to simply Neerlands Hoop) was formed in 1968 in Amsterdam by comedian [a=Freek de Jonge] and singer/musician [a=Bram Vermeulen]. Apart from performing comedy the group also composed a rock opera with the title Een kannibaal als jij en ik and formed a pop band called [a=Neerlands Hoop Express]. Their theatre shows and records were very popular in The Netherlands during the 1970s and the group is credited with revolutionizing Dutch comedy. In 1977 guitarist [a=Jan de Hont] officially joined, but not much later the group disbanded when Freek de Jonge decided to embark on a solo career in 1979.
