Amauta (3)

Chilean folklore, canto nuevo & protest song group, while living in exile in Bochum, Germany in the 80s. It was founded in 1981. Rooted in the New Song Movement that swept through Latin America in the early seventies, Amauta has sought new forms, reaching the fusion of jazz, rock and Latin American songs. In 1985 they made their first European tour, to seven countries. In 1987, they performed in major cities across Canada, culminating in the Vancouver Festival. In 1989, they made their second tour to Europe, where they performed in West Germany, Sweden, Holland, Belgium, England, Ireland and Scotland.
