Peter Garrett

Born: April 16th, 1953, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Lead singer of [a=Midnight Oil] and green activist. He was an Australian Labor Party member of the House of Representatives from 2004 to 2013, and became Minister for Environment, Heritage and Arts in 2007. He was re-elected at the 2010 election and was appointed Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth by Prime Minister Julia Gillard. In 2016 he recorded his one and only solo album "A Version of Now", on 15th of July 2016. To support the album, Garrett returned to perform live with a solo tour, backed by an all-star band called "The Alter Egos", featuring [a486347], [a281870], [a257810], Rosa Morgan and [a1227925]. Midnight Oil regrouped in 2020 and released an collective album titled [m=1831903] that included covers of previous Midnight Oil songs with guest artists to promote the indigenous Uluru people.
