Elise Einarsdotter

Swedish jazz pianist and composer, born Einarsdotter, 11 July 1955 in Borrby, Kristianstad County. During the years 1973-77 she lived in the USA, she studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Upon returning to Sweden, she settled in Stockholm, where she was active in the group Tintomara and from 1984 with, among others, Elise Einarsdotter Ensemble (EEE). She pursued further studies at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm in 1979–81, and was active there in 1981–88 as a jazz teacher. Her music is strongly rooted in jazz, but is also inspired by folk music and she has developed her own, poetic sound. She plays her own compositions, jazz standards and free improvisations. She also composes for poetry and writes for choir and orchestra. She has been married to jazz bassist [a1657118].
