Jean Ingraham

Violinist who over the last three decades has appeared on albums as diverse as those of Philip Glass, George Michael and Rihanna. Jean Ingraham grew up in Cleveland and began playing the violin at 4 1/2. She attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, went to Northwestern University for a year, and then followed her teacher, Joseph Knitzer, to the Eastman School of Music. Soon afterward she was married and subsequently had two children - Rebecca and Seth. She came to New York in the early 60's and immediately started playing with the Group for Contemporary Music, which was then at Columbia University. As a soloist she has performed the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Eastman-Rochester Symphony Orchestra, the Haydn Concerto in C and a Saint-Saens violin concerto with the Cleveland Orchestra, Strauss's ''Ein Heldenleben'' with the American Symphony, and the Bach E Major Concerto with Musica Sacra.
