Jesús Manuel Estrada

(Born in Planeta Rica, Córdoba, December 6, 1963 - Died in Sabana de Torres, Santander, November 12, 2003). From a very young age he became known for his prodigious voice. With music, he grew up and formed a musical couple with Ismael Rudas, with whom he recorded an LP. Then, looking for better directions, he went to live in Cali, where he became the leading voice of the Martínez brothers' group. He continued looking for new directions until he met Omar Geles, who invited him to be the voice of the group "Los Diablitos". Together they achieved important triumphs and had many hits on the radio, such as "Ya tengo quien me quiera", "Dónde están esos amores", "Lo que quiero eres tú", among others. Jesús Manuel was the voice of one of the songs that has gone around the world, "Los caminos de la vida." After the group split, Jesús Manuel formed a partnership with Víctor "Rey" Reyes and, finally, founded the Colombian group Sagitario with Víctor Naín. Later, he recorded with Juan David "El pollito" Herrera and shortly before his death, he had formalized for the third time his union with Víctor Reyes, with whom he began his recording career. Songs such as "Mágico", "Con el alma en las manos", "Piel sin alma", among others of a romantic nature, are part of his musical repertoire. He also had appearances in a project organized by Codiscos, called "La Combinación Vallenata", which brought together singers and accordion players from the most representative groups of Vallenata music. There they alternated among all of them, and from there the following songs emerged in 6 of the 7 volumes of this production: "Aunque sea un poquito", "Jamás te olvidaré", "Aunque truene y llueva", "Ven que te amo", "Juliana" (duo with Jean Carlos Centeno, vocalist of the Binomio de Oro), Rivales nuevamente" (duet with Hebert Vargas, vocalist of Los Gigantes), Vivo por ti", "Lo bueno, lo malo y lo triste" and "Qué va a ser de mí", which would be the last song that the singer would record with this project. None of these songs were added to the albums he produced, as they are different material than his albums as a group or alone. In addition, he had the participation of several recognized artists, except Diomedes Díaz. On November 12, 2003, Jesús Manuel Estrada died due to cardiorespiratory arrest in a traffic accident. The artist gave a presentation with his accordion player Víctor Reyes and his ensemble in the town of Ayacucho, municipality of La Gloria, south of Cesar. At 4:00 a.m. m. He traveled with his musical group heading to Pinar del Río and at 6:30 a. m. The accident occurred that took his life. His last musical production was recorded by scheduling the release of a preview with four songs: "Quédate conmigo"; The album is titled “Un gran cantor,” in honor of his memory.
