Ora Lee Hopkins

Ora Lee Hopkins was a gospel vocalist. She was known for her commanding singing style and was locally regarded as the “Midwest Gospel Queen.” She was a member of the [a5767903], and in 1947 joined the original [a6536381] as a founding member and backing singer. From 1951 to 1954, she served in [a731527]’s [a1013997]. Ora Lee served as the director of the city’s New Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church choir until her death in 2000.
